I have worked well with Peter from the beginning – he is an inspiring and knowledgeable person who can move you in the right direction. We started working on the book back in 2009 at the graphic design studio I was working for, and continued to collaborate on it after I became independent. After about a year and a half of intense work, we said we had almost 90% of the booklet done, but Peter’s trip to Ethiopia, Africa, prevented us from finishing it. Many years passed before we returned to the book again. When we finally got around to making it after four years, it became a project that I couldn’t identify with at the time, so we redid almost all of it. I suggested a different aspect ratio that was more generous for typesetting, more subtle pagination of the pages, as well as a cleaner and airier typesetting of the text. In all, we completed almost 700 pages, of which we took out about 200, and then we redid half of them again. As for the cover and sleeve, I imagined that we could use several layers and a bold colour scheme, as these features are typical of Peter’s work. That’s why I chose the ultramarine colour for both the sleeve and the cover of the book. On the cover, a cut-out of Peter’s painting is used, which gradually transitions into a separate layer, where only the illustration itself is used. A separated illustration with an ultramarine ground is used on the book jacket. We used Munken paper in two shades, with a second type of paper separating the paragraph from the biography in the final section of the book. Overall, I have to say that I am very happy with the final product and I enjoyed working on this project. I am glad that I was able to move forward with this work, not only professionally but also personally………Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum, Bratislava 2016, www.danubiana.eu
